On January 26 this year, please join us at Arana Leagues Club, 247 Dawson Parade, Keperra, for a special screening of Ailan Kastom: The Culture of the Torres Strait.

Event registrations begin at 1.30 pm and the screening starts at 2.00pm. We will also hear from guest speaker Uncle Thomas Sebasio after the screening of the Ailan Kastom DVD.

Ailan Kastom is a documentary about Torres Strait culture featuring history geography, music, dance and art of the Torres Strait, as well as language and ceremonies. Commissioned by the Torres Strait Regional Authority and directed by Brett Charles of Leftfield Productions, Cairns, Ailan Kastom is a snapshot of Torres Strait culture in 2013.

We are also responding to a request for children’s books to be collected and sent to the Darnley Island School at Erub. If you are able to contribute, then please bring your books along to the event for collection.
