You are invited to join Mamu Kuku Yalanji woman Rona Scherer and early childhood researcher Dr Melinda Miller for a virtual yarning circle to move beyond racism and towards reconciliation.

Part of the event will be a group discussion on the topic: “What can WE do to deal with racism?”

Rona Scherer

Rona Scherer is a Mamu Kuku Yalanji woman from Far North Queensland, living on Gubbi Gubbi country.

Rona has been facilitating cultural conversations for over 15 years nurturing understanding and producing cultural connections across employment, health and community services.

Her recent work has been delivering cultural awareness and helping people appreciate what embedding cultural safety in services and organisations might look like at all levels.

She believes that people are at the heart of change and for cultural shifts to occur for workforce, many conversations must take place. It’s who we are.

Dr Melinda Miller

Dr Melinda Miller is a teacher, educational researcher and consultant. She has worked with early childhood services and schools, government, and in higher education.

Melinda’s research has focused on racism and whiteness in early childhood education service delivery. She delivers professional learning for teachers and educators on unconscious bias, whiteness and cultural integrity in educational programs.

Melinda is a member of the Early Childhood Australia (QLD) Reconciliation Committee and the Reconciliation Industry Network Group.
