Herbert to Herbert, Ingham
10.30am Sunday 1st June 2014
On Sunday 1st June 2014 Reconciliation Queensland will be coordinating and participating in a Let’s Walk the Talk for Recognition Twilight Walk “Herbert to Herbert”. It’s time to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia’s Constitution. And it’s time to remove discrimination—like the section that still says people can be banned from voting based on race—from our founding document.
You are invited to join the walk which starts at 10.30am and is a slow, police supported walk from the park across from MacDonalds, Herbert Street to Herbert River RSL, Hawkins Street, Ingham walking from one end of town to the other end.
The walk ends at Herbert River RSL, where participants will gather at a suitable venue to share stories and enjoy a barbeque and enjoy the music of local artists and listen to a range of guest speakers.
Walkers are to meet at park across from MacDonalds, Herbert Street Ingham at 9.30am.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes, and carry an umbrella if the weather for either rain or showers and a bottle of water.
To promote the recognition of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia’s First Peoples through changes to the Australian Constitution is an important consideration for all Australians and we look forward to walking alongside you in support of this endeavour.
