Join us for a special screening of Family, the first episode from Redfern Now, the first television series written, directed and produced by Indigenous Australians.

To be held on Sunday 26th January, 2014 at Broncos Leagues Club, Fulcher Road, Red Hill, Brisbane. Registrations from 1.30pm, with the screening to commence at 3pm. RQI would appreciate a small donation to help with event costs.

Redfern Now is a multi-award winning drama which was first shown on ABC TV in 2012/13, and received the Most Outstanding Drama at the TV Week Logie Awards. Our Guest Speaker will be Alec Doomadgee, the actor who played opposite Leah Purcell in this episode, Family. Alec is a descendant of Waanyi, Garawa and Gangalidda tribes from the Aboriginal Community of Doomadgee in the Gulf of Carpentaria Qld. He was born and raised on the Waanyi/Garawa Land Trust with his extended family. He worked for many years in radio, including local Mt Isa Aboriginal Station 100.9MOB FM and 989 FM Murri Country in Brisbane. His acting career began in 2007.
