Helena Wright

Helena is a Traditional Owner of Kabi Kabi Country (Sunshine Coast Queensland) and has connections to the Gulf of Carpentaria through her great grandmother, a Stolen Generations woman. Helena has a BA (Criminology and Criminal Justice) from Griffith University and an Executive Masters of Public Administration from ANZSOG. Helena has 30 years' experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs working across Queensland, Northern Territory and Federal Governments. Helena has significant experience developing policies, leading major reform initiatives and delivering large projects, including a managing an evaluation of the domestic, family and sexual violence risk assessment framework in the Northern Territory, policies addressing First Nations food security, disability, reconciliation and youth engagement. She is currently the DCEO for Policy and Strategy at the Qld Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak. Helena has been married for nearly 25 years and is a proud mother of two and grandmother to one beautiful baby girl.
