Walters Nkemfack

Co-Chair

Walters Nkemfack is a dedicated community leader, professional organiser, and advocate for social justice with over 20 years of experience spanning multiple continents and industries. As a Director of Reconciliation Queensland Inc. Walters is committed to fostering reconciliation, strengthening relationships between First Nations and non-Indigenous communities especially new migrant’s communities, and driving impactful change through strategic collaboration.

Originally from the Former British Southern Cameroons of West Africa, Walters relocated to Australia in 2010 and has since played a pivotal role in uniting diverse communities across Queensland. His extensive background includes roles as a soldier, teacher, community organiser, manager, youth and social worker, CEO/Business Owner, and volunteer. Throughout his career, he has focused on relationship-building, leadership development, and empowering marginalised communities.

Walters’ passion for reconciliation aligns with the Reconciliation Queensland Strategic Objectives, which emphasises advocacy, education, and community engagement. He is dedicated to ensuring Reconciliation Queensland maintains its peak body and an effective voice in the evolving reconciliation journey, post-2023 Voice referendum. Through his work, he aims to strengthen partnerships with government, corporate, and community stakeholders, advocate for justice and equity, and create opportunities for meaningful cross-cultural learning and collaboration.

A firm believer in the power of collective action, Walters is deeply committed to creating programs and initiatives that uplift multicultural and First Nations communities, strengthen social cohesion, and break down systemic barriers. His leadership in the QLD Multicultural Sport events with the renowned Multi-Culti Cup 7-Aside Football tournaments showcases how sport and culture can unite people and build lasting connections.

Walters is honored to serve as a Director for Reconciliation Queensland and is committed to advancing the organisation’s mission to build a just, inclusive, and reconciled Queensland.
