I want to start by sincerely thanking everyone who joined us at the RQI AGM 2025. Your presence and engagement made the event truly meaningful. Gathering as a community to reflect on our progress and plan ahead is essential for our shared success. In this post, I will share key takeaways from the Co-Chair and CEO reports, highlighting the achievements and future directions discussed during the meeting.

Reflecting on the Co-Chair’s Report
The Co-Chair opened the AGM by acknowledging the dedication of all members and volunteers who have contributed to our mission over the past year. The report emphasized the importance of collaboration and transparency in driving our initiatives forward.
Key Points from the Co-Chair’s Address
1. Renewal of Strategic Direction
Reconciliation Queensland completed a major refresh of its strategic plan, shaped through six months of deep reflection and consultation. The new plan sets a bold, focused direction for the next three years and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to Truth, Respect, Courage and Integrity.
2. Changes to the Management Committee
Heartfelt thanks and farewells were extended to several outgoing Management Committee members whose contributions have shaped the organisation’s growth and direction.
3. Appreciation for Co-Patrons
Warm recognition of the continued leadership and advocacy of Professor Jackie Huggins and Dame Quentin Bryce, whose guidance strengthens the organisation’s mission.

4. Farewell to CEO Erin
A significant moment acknowledging the impactful four-year tenure of Erin, RQI’s first CEO, who led the organisation through major challenges and milestones including the Referendum campaign and the organisational rebrand.

5. 25th Anniversary Gala Celebration
A milestone event bringing together Elders, community leaders, partners, and supporters to honour 25 years of reconciliation work in Queensland, supported by major sponsors including Rio Tinto, BHP and the Queensland Government.

Insights from the CEO’s Report
Following the Co-Chair, the CEO provided a detailed overview of operational achievements and upcoming priorities. The CEO’s report offered a clear picture of where we stand and where we are headed.
Highlights from the CEO’s Report
1. Launch of the 2025–2027 Strategic Direction
A major organisational achievement was the development and adoption of the new strategic plan, providing a sharper focus with four strategic priorities, clear actions, and measurable targets.
You can read more at our other blog post concerning the strategic direction.

2. Strong Government Engagement & Advocacy
Reconciliation Queensland strengthened its relationship with the new LNP Government, meeting regularly with Minister Fiona Simpson and securing continued State Government funding through to CY2026. RQI also took an active national advocacy role through ARN and key policy submissions.
3. Strengthened Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships
The organisation secured significant corporate sponsorship for NRW Gala—especially BHP, Rio Tinto and the Queensland Government—with BHP committing for an additional two years. Engagement with CEOs and corporate leaders also expanded through high-level events hosted by the co-patrons.
4. Growth in Education & Community Support Capacity
The appointment of Sara Frazer as Education and Engagement Officer expanded RQI’s ability to deliver Narragunnawali programs, develop new education resources, and ensure culturally grounded practice supported by Aunty Denise Proud.

5. Financial Stabilisation & Revenue Diversification
FY2025 delivered a positive net result ($26,178) after last year’s deficit. Work on a new membership structure and a fundraising sub-committee is laying foundations for stronger self-generated revenue in FY2026.
If you'd like, I can turn these into a polished slide, short paragraph summary, or AGM speaking notes.
